A local save belongs to the browser and site where it was created. It is different from a cloud account. Changing browser profiles, clearing site data, using private browsing, or moving to another device can make that saved copy unavailable.
Check the original environment
Return to the same site address, browser, and profile if possible. A local preview and a hosted site have different storage origins, even if the tool looks identical. The maker stores one current saved chart per origin rather than a synchronized project library.
Look for portable backups
Search your downloads for the JSON file you exported. Opening that file restores editable chart cells and selected settings. PNG and SVG files preserve a viewing image but do not provide the same editable project data in this maker.
Build a repeatable backup habit
Download JSON after meaningful design milestones and give files clear project and revision names. Test reopening a backup before deleting old work. Browser storage can be convenient for the current session, but important designs need a separate copy you control.
- Keep editable and viewing exports together.
- Back up before clearing browser data.
- Do not assume a local save follows you to another device.
Use Open JSON to restore a backup if you have one. For future projects, pair Save with a downloaded JSON copy at each useful milestone.
